Portal Admin.

For IT employees and administrators, the Portal Admin app provides complete control over the Valence user environment, including the apps that particular users and user groups can access and the actions they can perform. Use Portal Admin to manage:

  • General Valence settings.

  • Users, user groups, authentication credentials, role-based permissions and individual session management.

  • App definitions and the categories they’re arranged under on the launchpad.

  • Environments, including the IBM i library lists that users are authorized to access.

  • Languages that users can select from on the log-in page (English, Spanish, Polish, Japanese, Italian, German, French, Dutch, Russian).

  • Other technical settings for developer tokens, web services, remote databases and activity monitoring.

Desktop Browser Portal and Mobile Portal Apps

Valence Portal is available on standard browsers and on our free iOS and Android mobile apps, available from the Apple App Store and Google Play. Users can choose the device that best suits their work environment — from programming apps on a large-screen desktop to managing warehouse inventory on a mobile tablet or phone.

Instance Manager

Create and manage multiple instances of Valence on a single IBM i. With Instance Manager, you can easily isolate development, quality control and production work even if you have only one IBM i partition or system.

Errors App

View and manage all errors that occur in Valence applications, including problems on the IBM i back end that can’t be examined using a console on the front-end browser. You can also set up your internal apps to log exceptions into the Errors app log.

Active Sessions App

See and manage all active user sessions. The Active Sessions app shows which users are currently logged in to your IBM i through the Valence Portal, including login method, minutes since login, minutes since last activity, user ID and name, environment name and library list, IP address, and other relevant information. Active sessions can be ended manually, forcing the user to log in again.

Web Services Security and Session Management

With the Developer Toolkit, you can create RPG programs that can act as web services, serving any type of call from any client on the platform. Using Portal Admin, you can selectively expose these web services and control how they’re used.

Valence Universal Portal.

Desktop Macbook

Now you can unify your development environment with Valence Universal. Extend the power of Valence to Node.js, enabling both server-side and client-side scripting using the same familiar procedures and interface. Run your apps on Linux, Windows or OS X, with no IBM i required.

  • Give your developers the freedom to use their preferred development framework. They all work with Valence Universal.

  • Migrate your Valence for IBM i apps to Linux, Windows or OS X if it ever becomes necessary.

  • Count on CNX to continue investing in enhancing Valence for each platform, including IBM i.
